Staying Aware, Staying Safe on Your Gap Year.

So, you’ve decided you want to take a gap year. There are hundreds of gap year ideas out there taking you to far-flung regions around the world. Trekking in the Jungles of Borneo, overland tour of Africa, back packing in South East Asia.  These wonderful places come with their own individual cultures, climates and urban infrastructure, all of which are exciting however, can pose a risk to personal safety.  This particular course is designed to prepare the traveler for the challenges of travel abroad and provides insight into the types of risk that exist. Think safe, stay safe.

GAP Year-1

A 1 Day Basic Life Support First Aid package can be provided in addition to the Half Day Gap Year Travel Safety Awareness course highlighted below.

  • Half Day Gap Year Travel Safety Awareness +
    • Pre planning: Security, health and cultural issues, money & documents
    • What to take: Kit and equipment, safety and electrical gadgets, how and what to pack
    • Cultural Awareness & Situational Awareness
    • Out and About: Local transport (buses, taxis, trains) staying street wise, what to look for, scams.
    • What if something goes wrong:  Getting help, your accommodation, dealing with authorities, drugs & alcohol
    • Staying safe: Avoidance techniques, confrontation, victim of crime, avoid becoming a victim

Course Attendence:

  • Candidates will receive joining instructions via email to the email address provided on the booking form.
  • It is the responsibility of the individual completing the course registration/booking form to ensure joining instructions are received by the candidate.
  • If the joining instructions are not received, it is the responsibility of the individual who completed the course registration/booking form to contact EQUIPP’s training department to arrange for them to be reissued.
  • Failure to attend the course will result in 100% cancellation fee.
  • EQUIPP will send all correspondence primarily via email to the email address provided on the booking form. If alternative details are received after the booking form has been submitted, they will supersede the original details and all future correspondence will be sent to the new address.
  • It may be necessary, for reasons beyond the control of EQUIPP to change the timing of the programme, the venue or the tutor.
